The Soul Messiahs

With The Soul Messiahs singer and writer Yurek Onzia turns back to his first love, the black soul and rhythm & blues from Stax, Motown, Hi Records, Chess and Atlantic.

Together with his musical ally’s he serves exciting and heartbreaking soul in the tradition of the late 60’s revues, with winks to the musical legacy of illustrious ancestors as Ike & Tina Turner, Otis Redding, Al Green, Shuggie Otis, The Young Rascals, Bobby Womack & Curtis Mayfield, and as it is practiced today by labels like Daptone Records and artists like Lee Fields, Raphael Saadiq, Charles Bradley and Kings Go Forth.

At this very moment The Soul Messiahs are working on own songs for a first EP, which will be recorded later this year.

Quotes

Dirk Vermeiren

“Geweldig concert! Schitterende songkeuze, ook voor zij die niet vertrouwd zijn met het genre, meteen 'Pats boem!' erop, en dat was natuurlijk vooral de verdienste van iedereen op het podium. Als ik nog eens een huis op te blazen heb, weet ik waar ik moet zijn!”

Tom Michielsen
directeur CC Muze

“Een fantastische bende boordevol energie en positive vibes.”

Staf Verbeeck
producer

“Het was een fijn optreden! We hebben ons goed geamuseerd!”

Arthur Lieuwen

“The Soul Messiahs: an awesome band from Antwerp bringing back the excitement of the R&B and soul of the 1960s”
